September happens to be Sickle Cell awareness month and also my birth month, yayyyy!!!! I noticed this tag going round on instagram and when i got tagged by the lovely +Aretha Yorke to participate in this challenge i thought why not? This challenge is basically to raise the awareness for sickle cell whiles sporting bold lips. This is a challenge right up in my alley; better (in my opinion) than pouring cold water over my body. I have decided to do this challenge weekly for the entire month of September. I normally never wear anything bold so why not challenge myself and also share a couple of looks with you. I will also be giving you some little info each time about sickle cell.
I am also sharing my current protective hairstyle which is a pixie wig cap i got done at First Choice. Something about getting a short do that makes you feel sexy????? Love it!!!!!!!

I hope this post finds you well. Sometime back i received some products from  Dark and Lovely Ghana from their Braids n Weaves line which i posted about here but have been unable to bring the review due to preparations for AFROTASTIC 2014 and also technical challenges. Initially I had wanted to do a video review and demo unfortunately during editing i mistakenly deleted the footage smh! I wanted to redo a video demo but i haven't worn braids or weave in a while and while i don't intend to for some time, i thought i will just do the review here and let everyone benefit from it rather than waiting for the demo. So after i began typing the review i realized i had a ton to say about these products and that putting them in one post will make this post super super long. I have become talkative papa! So i'm going to divide this post into 2 parts. I will do a review of 2 products and the next 2 in another post to announce the giveaway winners. Been a minute ain't ti! I'm back here bringing you all the exciting news about AFROTASTIC! I have been finding it extremely difficult to write this post simply being that as an organizer i am unable to report fully as a spectator because i was in and out several times and under tons of stress. Also it is difficult to be a critic of one'self right? Lol! But i have tried to piece something together for you so sit back and enjoy!

Happy new month everyone!!! !!!!!!!!!
Wow! Can you believe it? We are in August, *takes a deep breath* It's like the days are galloping! It was just yesterday we celebrated the new year now we are getting ready for Christmas. Hmmmm! I hope we take this opportunity to review the past months, look at our resolutions to see how far we have gone with them. It's never too late to start something. If you have given up along the way it's not too late to get back there to do whatever you have set out for yourself.

July was incredible! AFROTASTIC happened and it was amazing!!!!! The next post will be on how the event went with some photos to show you. A tad late but wait for it it will be worth your wait. August officially starts the bridal season and so will be quite busy with a few brides. Praying for Grace and strength to accomplish all my tasks and bedazzle more brides.

Earlier this year my dear friend, sister beauty blogger and MUA Evita of Evita Joseph Beauty launched Ghana's first ever premium online makeup store, www.ejbeautystore.com. What I can tell you is that, it is as a result of months and months of hard work and preparations. I am really proud of her. So when it was officially launched i quickly went unto the site to feast my eyes, and oh my! i was in heaven. So i decided to come up with my 7 beauty commandments which is basically a Do's and Don'ts with tips here and there. Initially wanted to do 10, like The Ten Commandments in the bible but couldn't find three more, lol! So why not 7? The number of perfection and completion? I hope you find it helpful. (This post is a rather old post that i found sitting in draft for no apparent reason hence the relatively shorter hair).


1. Thou SHALL properly remove thy makeup before going to bed

So from the title you can guess this is a haul post. I recently used up my trusty deep conditioner and needed to re-purchase and so off i went to Juben after close of work on a weekday. I love that i can get items there even after close of work as they close at 7pm and not at 5pm unlike most beauty supply stores. This beauty supply store is a beauty haven. I really love browsing through the aisles of this shop because they have a variety of items. *sighs* Okay back to the post!

So the main reason why i went there this time was to replenish my hair care stock and more especially try out some other products from the Creme of Nature (CON) Argan Oil range. I wanted to try out the CON Moisture and Shine Shampoo (sulphate free), CON Perfect 7 Leave-In Treatment and the CON Foaming Wrap Lotion. Unfortunately the shampoo had run out, meh! So here are the products i got instead among other beauty items.

i'm glad to bring you yet another hair post. I hope all is well with everyone. I have been away due to protective styling; i previously had in loose braids for about 5 weeks and took them out. I just want to give my hair a break from protective styling and given myself a personal challenge to how i can wear my natural hair out constantly and also to be able to cope with it on all levels.

*waving excitedly* yayyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!! 2014 is here with us and you know what it means to me? The perfect opportunity to start afresh! Most likely you may not have achieved all the the goals set for the previous year but if there is anything meaningful i learnt in the past year, it is not to give up. So yes, for me the new year means starting afresh, even if its the same goals as last years, it's important to set some.

Anyways, so personally 2013 was an amazing year so i turned my love for makeup into a business which was first Beauty Emporium Gh and it has been successfully re-branded into Beautique Gh. It has been an amazing experience with it's ups and downs. I got the opportunity to work an a makeup artist for Printex Ghana and did my first celebrity makeover for Efya. Yayyy! I also got the opportunity to work backstage at Ghana Fashion and Design Weekeknd where i met some of Ghana's renowned makeup artists. I also worked for Zaron Ghana during the launch of their products in Ghana. Most of all, the opportunity to meet people and transform ladies into bedazzling brides is an experence which is humbling. I also joined the gym at the later part of the year in the bid to control and loose some weight. It's better to try but i'd say consistency is key in this case.

Blogwise, i'd say the highlight for me was attending the Sankofa Meetup and meeting some followers and fellow naturals. I thoroughly enjoyed the pouring of info, discussion, fellowship, etc. I think such meetups are really important. Although i didnt blog as much as i hoped i still made the effort and thats what counts. Oh and also Blogging Camp Ghana '13 too was amazing. Meeting different bloggers in Ghana was really great. Looking forward to this years.

With that being said, here are some of the goals i have for this new year, 2014 in no particular order:

• Push harder for the things i want and stop being afraid. Most times i rely on people to push me, but this time i want to be more aggressive and pursue the things i need to do
• Organize the blog, be more Ghana focused because i want people to see and appreciate made in Ghana items.
• more reviews, tutorials, giveaways, collabos etc 
• Be more active on the NaturalistaGh facebook page and also host a natural hair meet up
• take better care of my hair, exercise more and eat more healthily
