Beginners' Makeup Kit: Eyeshadows and Brushes
July 25, 2013Hello Lovelies,
So i get asked a lot about makeup for beginners. I recently purchased some items to try out and upon receiving them i thought a few will be great for beginners. So here are two products and my views on them
1. BH Cosmetics 120 Colour Eyeshadow Palette 2nd Edition
Now i got this palette for my personal kit for when i want to play and experiment with colours. I think getting a palette like this with a variety of colours is fun and economical meaning you dont have to splurge a lot of cash to buy different palettes to get all these colours. This palette has a mixture of shimmer, satin and matte shades so you cannot go wrong with it. The shades are fairly pigmented and the palette cost $16.00
Pros:
1. A wide variety of colours with shimmer, satin and matte finishes
2. Portable as you don't have to carry around different palettes for different shades
3. The case is very sturdy and comes with a mirror
Cons:
1. Quite heavy and bulky so you will find it difficult to hold it and apply the eye shadow so you will need to place this on a table or something.
2. For MUAs the pay off isnt enough so you will definitely need a primer and an eyeshadow base to intensify the shadows.
2. BH Cosmetics 7pcs Hard Case Brush Set
So i got this brush set just because of the hard case. I just liked the shape and how portable it looked. Well upon receiving them i was a bit disappointed. The brushes were much smaller than i expected but aside that they are fine and perfect for the beginner who doesnt have the funds to splurge on high end brushes such as MAC and Sigma. This costs $15.00
Pros:
1. Very portable with a mirror and the case will protect the brushes and prevent them from getting dirty
2. Extremely soft so not scratchy or irritating on the eyes or skin
3. Has all the basic brushes needed for eyes and face
4. No shedding experienced
Cons:
1. Smell of brushes! argh! smells like new rubber tires gosh! To get rid of the smell brushes will have to be washed a few times
2. A little bit tiny so for an MUA this might be a bit of a disadvantage
Anyways, I hope this post has been extremely helpful for some of you. I will later post about other essential products to have in your beginners makeup kit.
Until later,
Keep on being fab,
xoxo
