August 05, 2013Hello Beauties,
I hope everyone's doing well. So the past weekend found me at the engagement of a dear friend, big sis and role model. I was privileged to have been the makeup artist for her special day. Look out for the pics on my facebook page, Beauty Emporium Gh. So i was clueless on how i wanted my hair to look but i knew definitely that i did not want to wear weaves or braids or any long term protective style. I took to instagram to find natural hair pics and trust instagram not to let down. I opted for this simply glam natural hairstyle.
So friday night saw me at my hair stylist, Kobby (yes a guy) and after telling him what i wanted he went ahead to wash my hair. I initially wanted a roller set as a less harsh way of stretching out my hair with heat but he went with the blow dryer as it was late and would have taken more time. He used relatively high heat, higher than i would have used, the blowdryer he used didnt have an intermediate heat level. But i needed my hair to be a bit straight so i went ahead. Oh i should have taken some pics of my blown out hair. Not bad for year 1.
So after blowdrying he proceeded to hold the hair into the bun. He also used hair spray aka spirit which was used to slick the hair down. I opted for the hairspray because i needed the style to hold for a while and hair gels i find do not provide long lasting hold and might leave the hair flaky. For the bun he used a pack of Afro kinky hair. He divided the hair; two-thirds for the bun and a third for the faux bangs/fringe. I love it!
Also for the makeup, i knew i wanted a red lip. Initially i wanted to do a smokey eye but then after making up the bride i was very pressed for time and decided on a simple neutral eye. I used the BH Cosmetics 120 Eyeshadow Palette for this eye look. For my lips i lined and filled them using MUA Lip pencil in Red Drama and applied MUA Lip Boom in Bring It On. I love these two as the reds are blue toned and matte. On my face i used my current favourite foundation, Milani Cosmetics cream to powder in Walnut and used the pressed powder in Honey Amber to set it. I did not apply blush, i wanted the face flawless. I wanted to look glam so i wore lashes which are very natural looking. Love them!
It was an all white affair. I had this peplum dress sewn for me by my seamstress with a lace fabric. She did an amazing job too. I paired the dress with a pastel green heels and the pastel and gold belt with snake skin details and also snake skin box clutch. I think they all go well together. So if you are interested in getting either the hairstylist who is amazing with weaves too or the seamstress hit me up. Also if you will like to have a similar look for your special day or get BEdazzled by me contact me on 0236800069 or leave me a message on my facebook page Beauty Emporium Gh.
Until another post,
keep on being fab,
xoxo
Annette.
